Greetings, Artisans of the East Kingdom!

In the distance beat the drums of war. On the horizon appears the
silhouette of an ominous ship.

As we prepare for battle against our eternal foe, word comes. The
Midrealm has fallen under the control of a Norseman. These Vikings,
as they are called, are known to be ruthless in their pursuit of
foreign treasures. This love of fine things may be of use to us â€"
if we can satiate their hunger for treasure, perhaps they will spare
our lands from pillage.

Artisans, I present our plan. . . Let us prepare a great basket of
gifts for these opponents, offering them a sample of the arts of our
kingdom. A piece of fabric made into clothing, a chest bearing their
arms to hold the
baubles, amusements for their children, drink and vessel to recite
the stories of our friendship with their friends back home. Gifts of
needle and hammer. Thank you notes adorned by our illuminators, poem
and song penned by our scribes,created by bards. Our kingdom has many
treasures, our populace. Let us share our treasures so we may be
friends, not enemies.
